Also known as “Juneteenth Independence Day,” “Freedom Day” or “Emancipation Day,” Juneteenth combines June and 19, the day in which federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to inform enslaved African-Americans of their freedom.
All City administrative offices (City Hall, the Community Center, the Public Works Services Center, and the Building Department) will be closed in observance of Juneteenth Day.
City parks will be open.
There will be regular garbage and recycling service.
