How to Make a Code Complaint

Ensuring that properties in Weston are properly maintained is not only aesthetically beneficial, but economically advantageous to all property owners and businesses within the City.

To report a possible violation of the City code:

Download and complete Complaint Affidavit Violation of Code Form.
Send a PDF copy of the completed form to codeenforcement@westonfl.org.
If it is determined that a violation exists, a Code Enforcement Officer will issue a Notice of Violation.

Code Enforcement Officers have the primary duty to enforce the City's codes and ordinances and may initiate proceedings before the Special Magistrate in order to get the violation corrected. In all cases, voluntary compliance is the foremost goal where code violations exist.

Code Enforcement Complaints Cannot Be Made Anonymously

A code enforcement officer may not initiate an investigation of a potential violation by way of an anonymous complaint pursuant to Florida law. Notification of Code Violations are issued pursuant to Florida Statutes 162.12 and enforcement of the code is done pursuant to 162.21 (3)(b), shown below.

162.21 Enforcement of county or municipal codes or ordinances; penalties.

162.21 (3) (b) A code enforcement officer may not initiate an investigation of a potential violation of a duly enacted code or ordinance by way of an anonymous complaint. A person who reports a potential violation of a code or an ordinance must provide his or her name and address to the respective local government before an investigation may occur. This paragraph does not apply if the code enforcement officer has reason to believe that the violation presents an imminent threat to public health, safety, or welfare or imminent destruction of habitat or sensitive resources.
