Request Process

Requests for recognition by the City may be made to any member of the City Commission, the City Manager or the City's Director of Communication.  Any request made to a member of the City Commission or City Manager shall immediately be forwarded to the Director of Communications.

Requests must made on a Recognition Request Form and should be submitted to the Director of Communications a minimum of two weeks prior to the requested receipt date. It can be sent to cityhall@westonfl.org

Proclamation Request

Proclamations must fit one of the following criteria as set forth in Resolution 2021-133.      Weston-Proclamation-and-Certificate-Recognition-Request-Form-Thumb

  • Must pertain to an organization existing, or an event occurring, within the City of Weston or benefiting the City provided that such organization or event does not discriminate against race, color, age, sex, gender identity, national origin, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, disability or other legally protected class.
  • Must pertain to a government or governmental issue or governmental event at the local, state or federal levels.
  • Must pertain to an individual who has resided or worked in Weston and/or made lasting contributions to the Weston community at large.

      Proclamations may not be issued for:

  • Endorsing candidates for public or private office.
  • Public or private ballot issues.
  • Proclamations shall make no commitment on behalf of the City to perform any acts or provide any funding.

As the Head of City Government for all ceremonial purposes (prescribed by Charter), the issuance of Proclamations and Certificates of Recognition is at the sole discretion of the Mayor, subject to an objection process set forth in Resolution 2021-133


Certification of Recognition Request

      Certificates of Recognition are provided to:

  • Athletes who have had notable achievements in youth sports.
  • Pertains to students who have had notable achievements in academics in primary or secondary school.
  • Youth who have had other exemplary achievements.

 Certificates of Recognition may not be issued for:

  • Endorsing candidates for public or private office.
  • Public or private ballot issues. 

The Whereas clauses do not have to be completed if you are requesting a Certificate of Recognition. Supply information on your nominee.
