The City of Weston Finance Department is managed by Darrel Thomas, Assistant City Manager / Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Financial Officer supervises the areas of Budget, Building Code Services, Finance and Cash Management, Risk Management and Tree Preservation.

The City of Weston’s Director of Budget, Bryan Cahen, is responsible for preparing and managing the annual fiscal year budgets for the City of Weston and the City’s two dependent development districts. He also oversees the strategic planning process, including long-range business plans that are part of the annual budget preparation, and the City’s Business Tax Receipt program, which is administered by the Business Tax Coordinator.

The City of Weston’s Director of Accounting, Cindy Tao, is responsible for preparing and managing the accounting and financial reporting functions of the City of Weston and the City’s two dependent development districts.  Her duties include oversight of the City’s annual independent audit, the Annual Comprehensive Finance Report, the Annual Financial Report submitted to the State of Florida, internal controls and vendor file management.

Weston is proud to be recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association for excellence in financial reporting for its thorough preparation of the City’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and has received the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, annually.

The City contracts with Municipal Technologies, LLC for a range of finance and administrative support services, including accounting, accounts receivable/payable, Business Tax Receipt administration and financial reporting.
