Why Do I Need A Certificate of Use?
In order for a business operating from a commercial or industrial property in Weston to receive a Local Business Tax Receipt, the business owner must first apply for and be issued a Certificate of Use for the location, in accordance with City Code. Any new tenant or change of occupancy in a commercial or industrial property must have a Certificate of Use to certify the use is permitted and does not violate any requirements of the Florida Building Code, Broward County and City of Weston Zoning Code, or the Fire Marshal's Office.
Chapter 40 of the City of Weston Code of Ordinances provides complete details regarding Business Tax Receipts, which includes the requirement for a Certificate of Use for all commercial or industrial property to be issued prior to the issuance of a Business Tax Receipt.
