2024 SUNsational Award - 1st & 2nd Place | Florida Festivals & Events Association

The City of Weston has been awarded a 2024 SUNsational Award by the Florida Festivals and Events Association, earning first place in the "Program/Event Guide/Brochure" category for the Weston@Play Parks and Recreation Guide. The City also earned second place in the "Promotional Item" category for the Veterans Day Salute as well as second place in the "Promotional Video or Video Recap" & "Multi Agency Collaborative Program" categories for the Weston World Fest event.  Florida Festivals and Events Association recognizes members' innovation, individuality and creative collaboration among those that produce events, from governmental agencies to private companies.

 

The City of Weston has received the 2024 Florida Municipal Communicators Association (FMCA) Outstanding Award for external video with the video Hurricane Preparedness - Are you Weston Ready? Distinguished Budget Presentation Award 

For the twenty-second consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association has recognized the City of Weston with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the period beginning October 2023. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, judged by a panel of independent reviewers, and represents a significant achievement.

Weston Building Department Attains ISO Ratings of 2

The Classifications received are: Class 2 rating for commercial and industrial property; and Class 2 rating for 1 & 2 family residential property. 

According to officials at ISO, a classification of 1 has not been achieved by a city in over 20 years. An ISO Building Code Effectiveness Grading Classification rating of 2 is excellent for residents and business owners. Learn More

Fire and Life Safety Educator of the Year for 2024 by the Florida Association of Fire and Life Safety Educators

BSO Weston Life Safety Educator Melanie Brocato was chosen for this prestigious award out of all Life Safety Educators in the state. 

Ed Murray Public Educator of the Year Award

BSO Weston Life Safety Educator Melanie Brocato was also selected by the Fire Chiefs Association of Broward County (FCABC)to receive the Ed Murray Public Educator of the Year Award presented at the Annual First There First Care Conference.   FCABC represents 31 individual municipalities with a combined population of 1.91 million people.

Safest and Most Dangerous Cities in Florida | The Schiller Kessler Group

Analyzing official figures from the FBI to determine which of Florida's 65 most populous cities are statistically the most dangerous to live in.  Based on the data, Daytona Beach, Homestead and Miami Beach are the top three most dangerous. On the opposite end of the scale, Weston was deemed the safest city in Florida out of the 65.

Gold Level Water Smart Community - City of Weston

The Florida Department of Health in Broward County has designated the City of Weston as a Gold level water smart community!  The Gold level shows that the City actively promotes safe water practices and eliminate hazards and factors attributed to drowning and has met a number of established goals set by the Health Department.  https://watersmartbroward.org

America's Hottest Neighborhoods of 2022 | Redfin Top Ten

Redfin, the technology-powered real estate brokerage analyzed and ranked U.S. zip codes by year-over-year growth in listing views on Redfin.com and Redfin Compete Score—a measure of how difficult it is to win a home based on factors including days on market, share of homes that sold above their listing prices and sale-to-list price ratio.  The City of Weston, FL was ranked #8 out of ten in the country. There were eight FL cities, mostly in the Sarasota area.

Defined as the strongest creditworthiness relative to other U.S. municipal or tax-exempt entities, the Aaa bond rating by Moody's Investors Service has been maintained by the City of Weston since the City's first rating after incorporation in 1996.

Weston Ranked #1 in Broward, #10 in South Florida

A study conducted by Niche, a website that uses comprehensive data along with reviews and rating to help students and families search for the right school and neighborhood, ranked The City of Weston #1 for the Best Cities to Live in Broward County and #10 for the Best Cities to Live in South Florida, which includes Miami-Date, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. The studies took into consideration cost of living, property value, job opportunities, night life, cultural and ethnic diversity , crime rates, climate, accessibility to other areas, education recreation and other forms of well-being.

Broward County Complete Streets Community Award Winner

Presented by the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) at the annual Safe Streets Summit and Awards 2021. According to statements, it was noted that Weston created a City for all user and the City continues filling the gaps to connect and expand the existing network for bike lanes. The City continuously markets bicycle safety and implements roundabouts and other modifications reducing vehicle conflict points and reducing speeds. Weston is a 'prototype of a bicycle friendly city'.

ISO Public Protection Classification Rating of 1 | Insurance Services Office 

Weston’s Fire Department achieved a Public Protection Classification Rating of 1 which is the highest rating attainable. Weston is one of only 348 cities in the Country to attain a Class 1 rating out of the 41,177 that were rated.
