NEW:

The Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA) adopted new regulations for Building Inspections (formerly known as the 40-Year Inspection Program).    Per BORA, the Program was revised to be consistent with the requirements of Florida law, F.S.553.899.

The major change to the program is that buildings will now be required to have that initial inspection at 25 years of age instead of 40.

For additional program information you may visit The Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals Website at https://www.broward.org/CodeAppeals/Pages/SafetyInspectionProgram.aspx

REQUIREMENTS FOR 25 YEAR OR OLDER BUILDING INSPECTION SAFETY PROGRAM REPORT REVIEW

  1. A Uniform Building Permit Application is required to be completed that has the correct folio, address and building number of each building. Incorrect information on the application will cause a delay in the review process. One application can be used for required reports. The owner is responsible for submitting the report. The application can be found on-line under Permitting Services.

  2. A photo of the building that includes the building number and address is required to be submitted.

  3. One structural and one electrical report is required per building.

  4. A $99.37 review fee is required for each report and to be paid on-line.

  5. Create on-line account in our ePermits portal to upload all documents or the following address:
    https://www.westonfl.org/ePermits

  6. Refer to the owner builder guide at https://www.westonfl.org/ePermits  for a step by step guide on how to register an account, associate a license and upload all required documents.

  7. Once your account is created you may contact the Building Department for assistance if required at 954-385-0500 or building@westonfl.org. If no work is required the file is closed out and archived.

If repairs are required a building permit must be applied for each discipline separately by a licensed general contractor and electrical contractor in accordance with all the provisions of the Florida Building Code. Permit fees for the work are subject to the cost of the repairs in accordance with Weston's current fee schedule.
