The City of Weston, in partnership with the Broward County Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division, offers two programs for Weston residents as funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program through US Housing and Urban Development.  In order to qualify for either program, households must have incomes less than 80% of Broward County's Area Median Income, adjusted by family size, based upon the current US HUD income chart for Broward County.

Down Payment Assistance

For qualified applicants wishing to purchase a home within the City of Weston, the Down Payment Assistance program offers a maximum of $50,000, based upon financial need. 

A buyer must first be able to obtain a mortgage through a bank and must contribute 3% of the total costs towards the down payment, among other requirements. There will be no interest on the down payment assistance loan, and as long as the borrower owns, occupies, and maintains the home for a period of 15 years, the loan will be forgiven.

Home Repair Assistance ($40,000 maximum loan, 0% interest, 15 year term)

Eligible homeowners may apply for assistance with repairs to their home.  The maximum amount of assistance is $40,000 and will be determined by the actual cost of the work.

Services include - Minor Home Repair 

  • Roof repair and/or replacement; complete repair/replacement of deteriorated roofing system
  • Window replacement
  • Door replacement
  • Insulation
  • Hurricane/storm shutters
  • HVAC/air conditioning upgrades

Applications are processed on a first come/first qualified basis.  No monthly payments are due on these loans.  After residing in your home for the loan term, the loan is forgiven. 0% interest, 15 year term.

Barrier Free/Special Needs ($40,000 maximum loan, 0% interest, 10 year term)

  • For households with a member with a disabling condition
  • Removal of interior and exterior accessibility and mobility barriers
  • Doorway expansions
  • Retrofit bathrooms and kitchens; change cabinet and plumbing hardware
  • Other life safety improvements 

No monthly payments are due on these loans.  After residing in your home for the loan term, the loan is forgiven.

Income Eligibility:  Depends on family size and funding source.  For example, a one-person gross annual household income cannot exceed $67,920.  Lower income limits may apply based on Available Funds.

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Program

The City of Weston is a participating city in the Broward County Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program.


Conservation Pays 

The City of Sunrise Water Utility, which provides water service to the Weston area, is a part of the Broward Water Partnership -- a collaboration of local governments committed to helping water customers conserve water.  

Learn more about the programs available, which include:  toilet rebates, free showerheads and kitchen/bathroom aerators, as well as pre-rinse spray valves for commercial kitchens.
