Stamp Dedication Ceremony
Join us for a dedication ceremony hosted by the U.S. Postal Service and the City of Weston to dedicate the 2023 Florida Everglades Priority Mail stamp, which was issued earlier this year. The ceremony will be held in the lobby of City Hall and will be followed by a dessert reception.
The Florida Everglades Priority Mail® stamp was designed by art director, Greg Breeding, showcasing a digital illustration by Dan Cosgrove in celebration of the Florida Everglades, one of the largest wetlands in the world. Weston sits at the doorstep of this natural area that spans some 2 million acres from Lake Okeechobee to Florida Bay.
Although Everglades National Park was dedicated by President Harry Truman on December 6, 1947, the Florida Everglades was designated as a Wetland of International Importance on June 4, 1987 – highlighting the area’s importance as a wildlife habitat on a global level.
