Garbage and Recycling service days
The City has entered into a new contract with Republic Services. To better service the community, curbside collection days may have changed for your weekly garbage and recycling collection.
Palm Fronds will be collected on the FIRST collection day of the week only. Residents can place a small amount of naturally fallen or homeowner-cut palm fronds for pickup out on the the FIRST collection day of the week only. For example: If your garbage collection days are Monday and Thursday, palm fronds will ONLY be collected on Monday. Residents must place the palm fronds next to their garbage cart for collection.
Why? An automated garbage truck performs regular garbage collection, using a mechanical arm to lift and dump the carts into the truck. This efficient collection method is interrupted if the driver has to stop and get out of the truck to pick up palm fronds. Therefore, to collect palm fronds, the City's contractor, Republic Services, sends a separate rear-end loader truck with manual workers who get out of the truck to collect them.
Important: Piles of palm fronds generated by a resident's landscape service/contractor will NOT be collected.
